Mercedes Benz NYFW Day 3: Gossip at Lacoste

The spring/summer trends and gossip you can't miss.

Walking into the theater at 10am on Saturday, Sept 6th, I found myself surrounded by French speaking people. Of course, they were impeccably dressed. I sat next to a pair of older gentlemen who appeared to have come out of  the doors from behind the stage. Their French turned into English as their pal sat down and they began to discuss the show. From the sound of it, one of the gentlemen worked with Lacoste.. this had made for some interesting eavesdropping.

He had began saying that fashion shows always start late because important people are late, therefore, when people wait for you, you know you are important. He also mentioned that people attend these fashion shows not for the looks, but for the "dream" behind them. The few minutes of mere joy and beauty that make you forget that life is actually brutal. A few moments later they began to discuss the financial side of the show.. “the cost per minute is very high.” Made me think!

Once the show began the music was upbeat techno as the sportswear collection, resembling some contemporary silhouettes, began to strut down the runway. The music then began to play Goodies by Ciara, so the show is pretty much my favorite of all time.
The collection was cohesive with colors and patterns displaying new color trends for next spring/summer. Fashionable jerseys, sweatshirts, shirt dresses with collars hitting a few inches below the knee are going to be trend setters.
