Mercedes Benz NYFW Day 5: Dennis Basso & Naeem Khan

From glam to casual, Day 6 is all about classic pieces and the most classic NYFW shows. + is Kanye designing fashion show runways now? SUBSCRIBE HERE!

I honestly had no expectation while walking into the Dennis Basso show. Wearing my most casual outfit, I found my seat. Upon closer inspection, Ivana Trump, Carol Alt, Star Jones, and Coco Rocha were sitting in the front row.

The show began with a dedication to Joan Rivers and a moment of silence for her. Then the lights dimmed and the rock-ish music began to blast. Fur coats, full skirts, ruffles, gowns, and other fabulous pieces strutted down the runway.  The color trend: a beautiful pale blue with golden hand-sewn yellow accents followed by light pink and lavender blending as the collection progressed. Again, more subtle but beautiful colors for next spring/summer!

In the end, Dennis Basso made his stroll around the runway when suddenly the whole crowd rose to their feet. A standing ovation! My first.

Inspired by the luxury resorts in the Mediterranean, “when women wear short shorts for evening and gowns for day time” the collection debuted long gowns, shorts, short skirts, and crop tops. It was highly anticipated and did not disappoint.
