Neiman Top Picks

Nothing like enjoying my morning cup of coffee with a Neiman Marcus new catalog! Now, not all catalogs are worth the front to back read, but this issue caught my eye. Not to mention that I haven't been up on my posts lately.. My cold really took a lot out of me so I've been playing catch up with school. I thought that the images were beautiful in this catalog so here are my favorite items for my Spring/Summer14! Photos like these serve as inspiration.

I absolutely adore a pink lip for summer time. It's effortless and youthful.
Oscar De La Renta is always a must.
I die for this Chanel boy bag.
Love Carmen Marc Valvo, I went to his Fall14 show during Fashion Week!

Bikini Season is Around the Corner

Summer is almost upon us, and with my traveling plans in the next few months, it’s time to get down to business!! That bikini body is not going to come by itself, especially since I just got over my cold (I ate too much) and that I don’t work out, a clean diet is ESSENTIAL. I know if I eat clean for a week, my body will bounce back to it’s normal state, but this time I want to actually eat clean to feel healthy. Who knows, I might even start working out. Here a few things I follow religiously while eating healthy.

1. Liquid condiments – yes, this includes salad dressing, ketchup, ranch, half & half, and anything else that makes your food taste better lol!

2. I caught all out drinks that contain sugar - juices, alcohol, & coffee with sweetener. Black coffee, kombucha & water is all I allow myself.

3. This goes without saying, but low carbs is the way to go. I try to limit the amount of carbs I take in like in salads, for example croutons. No more burgers, sandwiches, or pizza, but a good alternative is to order a patty wrapped in lettuce!

4. Lastly, I've decided to try out being pescatarian (only eating fish) and have gone without meat for about 2 week. This is something I'm experimenting with, and will decide if I want to continue in a few weeks.

Casual

Late post from before New York Fashion Week. Oversized sweaters are so essential during the winter. Not only are they chic, but also serve as a blanket LOL!

Latest Purchase

I wasn't planning on grabbing anything from the Peter Pilotto for Target collection. Didn't want to deal with the crowds but NET-A-PORTER suggested these floral slip-on sneakers and they are FAB!! No, I am not talking about your 8th grade Van's sneakers. Ew. I just had to grab these. I mean come on, $30 for a floral slip-on you won't get anywhere else? It's practically a steal. When it comes to shoes, I can't keep one for longer than a season so these won't make the heart hurt when I throw them away..

On another note, slip-ons are MAJOR this season. They are going as far as being substituted for heels nowadays. Lets be honest, practicality and fashion rarely mix, why wouldn't I be a part of this? Perhaps I'll wear them to my trip to LA :) Now, I can't wait for my flu to go away…

Put a Twist to Your Ponytail

It's Throwback Thursday and I'm laying in bed sick as a dog so I haven't had time to even do outfit photos.. I guess you can't work 24/7…. It might also be because my body is iron deficient from being pescatarian so we shall see how this goes..

This may be the second post on this blog, my memory isn't as clear, but it was definitely one of my favorites! I absolute adore these Stuart Weitzman wedges for spring/summer. They have the most comfortable sole & wrap the ankle beautifully. There are those items in your closet that you will just never give up, and this is one of them. I will wear them till they tear apart. Plus, every girl needs a great pair of wedges.

PONYTAIL TRICK: This is also back when I had longer hair - I did a trick to spice up my ponytail! I put my hair up, but would leave about a 2'' strand out near the back of my head. When I had tightened the ponytail to where I was content, I would wrap the left over stand around the hairband until it was completely hidden. I tucked in the end of the stand with a bobby pink and voila! A chic up do :)

Make a Statement

Now, I am not much of a jewelry grl, but lately I have come to love big, blingy necklaces that sparkle around your neck. Even the most boring outfits can be turned into chic ensembles with a statement necklace.

During spring & summer I can't wait to be wearing these (I already grabbed the Leith Necklace :)

Zara Opening in Seattle

Right after NYC, I was invited to the media preview with the CCO of Zara and launch party of the first Zara in Seattle! I have been obsessing over Zara for a while, so it's a blessing to finally have one in the area! Sometimes online shopping just doesn't suffice. I loveeee polka dot print from spring/summer.

Here are some of my favorite polka dot dresses - this one is almost identical to mine! :)

Wearing my Zara polka dot dress I was gifted from Lisbon paired with these super adorable orange booties from Boutique 9. I love the contrast color. Of course, finished off with Chanel & David Yurman.

P.S. I forgot my makeup in NYC (it only arrived today) so I've been living off of foundation and some blush. -.-

Valentine's Day

Last night, I had to take a day off from blogging with traveling, midterms, and Valentine's Day. I'm so sleep deprived!

On Valentine's Day, I spent the day with my boyfriend. Being the procrastinator that I am, I made reservations on the same day, and luckily found one spot open at 9! So all evening we laid in bed watching Valentine's Day & ate chocolate (a lot of it). We decided to keep this V Day simple and casual because New York took a lot out of us. He got me the most beautiful red roses! I must say I did pretty well myself as well, being that I'm not much of a romantic.
At 9, we headed to an italian 'cucina' restaurant (it's my favorite cuisine next to Sushi), Il Terrazzo Carmine. I have never been but it turned out to be a legit authentic Italian place! I grabbed the Fettucini Alfredo with Prawns because it's my guilty pleasure.. I actually haven't had it in over a year... It was a relaxed and homey night with a lottttt of chocolate. Seriously.

What to Wear Now

For Spring/Summer 2014, the runway was full of sheer inserts on tops, skirts, and dresses. Sheer can be easily paired with a swimsuit and shorts or a sexy touch for a night on the town. The slight touch of sheer can make an outfit light and sleek. The easy fabric is easy to style since it the detailing does most of the work for you. Perfect summer time statement piece.
I also chose all black & white because monochrome is one of my favorite trends right now :)

Shoe Porn

Meanwhile…. I'm studying for midterms, trying to recover for jet lag and my kitty waking me up at 5AM…. I have become shoe obsessed in the past few months! If you've been a reader, you know that handabgs>shoes have been my motto. However, lately I've switched teams. Here are some of my favorite shoes for Spring! I WILL HAVE THE SAINT LAURENT HEELS.

Mercedes-Benz FW Wrap Up

Noon By Noor is a newer designer on the Mercedes Benz runway but it was one of the most gorgeous collections I have seen to date. Mixing menswear for women with flirty dresses and gowns, not to mention some totally fab trench coats, the collection is a MUST HAVE. Every piece is so perfectly tailored and can be easily mixed and matched. Using fall colors - burgundy, black, and brown, the collection had prominent splash of colors predicting for Fall 2014 - shades of blue, yellow, and burgundy balanced the collection for a fresh and modern look. Some key pieces had special metallic detailing that shined and swooshed on the runway for the ultimate effect.

Mercedes-Benz NYC FW - Badgley Mischka Fall14

I did a bit of shopping on 5th Ave at Zara, and picked up this over the knee skirt. I love the Topshop fluffy crop top looks perfect paired with it! I threw on my vintage coat and paired with Valentino shoes and Sole Society Priscilla handbag. My favorite look! I also wore it around the city :)

Vintage Coat

For my final show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the Badgley Mischka Fall 2014 collection was greatly anticipated. The collection had a bit of a Russia nostalgia( my roots!) with the big furry hats and collars. The looks had rich, empire gold accents - reminding me of the era of the Kings and Queens. Keeping the silhouettes classic, the long gowns and midi skirt were highlighted with bold patterns as cheetah and gold shimmer strutted down the runway. The vintage vibe met with modern trends with simple ready to wear pieces. I am loving the floral trend this season, and final look, the abstract floral gown was a breath taker!
