For Soft, Shiny Hair

Hair, it's the most important part of your body next to your skin, or so I believe. Growing up, I never took great care of it, and looking back it makes me cringe. Thank god I chopped all my damaged, dried out hair and now I have a fresh start on taking care of these gold locks. Side note, it has been growing so much! Since the cut, I have been taking extreme measures on the hair front because my hair is my signature. I turned to the Mudslide Nourishing Mask from the drybar. Every girl knows, deep conditioning just makes the stress melt away.

IT IS LIFE CHANGING. Even my hair girl was telling me that the drybar product made my hair so soft that she couldn't even style it. My boyfriend always knows notices the difference when I use it and it just looks super sleek & shiny. I definitely recommend if you are searching for a new product to try. It's pink & smells great.. what's not to love :)

Now,  I must run to pack for my trip to the cabin with my friends! This is the first year I actually have legit NYE plans and a perf dress (check out my guide to dresses here)! Hope everyone enjoys the next couple of days off, because after that it's HUSSLE time before NYC in February!!

Happy New Year!

Project SocietyGrl

I wanted to share something that I'm really grateful for and impressed by. Kelly Velloci, a follower of mine who attends Rutgers University in New Jersey as a Senior, emailed me to ask permission to be able to write a research paper on Societygrl for her final project a few months ago. I was so flattered, it's an honor to be written about! I think she knows more about me than I do about myself now!! Of course, she did get an A.

This article is also paired with a 12 page research paper that further dissects and analyzes Societygrl. GREAT JOB! :)

Lucky Colors for NYE

I grew up with this tradition in Ukraine. Each upcoming year was represented by a new Chinese symbol, like for example, next year is the year of the Wood Horse. This "feng shui" is believed to bring good luck and success in the upcoming year. What color you strike the New Year in, or kiss your date in, will bring you positive energy (or they say). In the years past, my relatives and I would always wear the colors that represent each animal.

To maximize your luck next year, it is recommended to wear:
"2014 is the Year of the Wood element - the Wood Horse - so to be in harmony with the energy of the year and befriend the ruling Wood Horse energy, it is recommended to wear the colours of the Wood feng shui element - all shades of green and brown"
Water and Earth elements are also encouraged since they support the growth and the well-being of the horse, like blue and black. I, personally, will be wearing a blue dress with sparkles (obviously).

I thought this tradition was odd, and highly unlikely, but now it's a tad bit nice to have a semi-dress code. And who doesn't love some extra luck in life anyway? We all need it :)

Gingerbread Hunger Games

Welcome to Society-ville! I have never decorated a gingerbread house before so I decided to host "Gingerbread Hunger Games" at my house. It was pretty intense, not going to lie. I have to say that babe and I made a great team. He even made the heart out of candy canes… AWWWW. The one above is ours :)

Here's a little glimpse :) My girls and I also exchanged gifts because we won't see each other till after Christmas. Some new fun jewelry and fab clothes, they even requested to see it on the blog soon :) I have the most amazing people in my life that I am truly so lucky to be able to spend the holiday season with.

If I have frosting ever again, it will be too soon.
ps. 3 days till Christmas!!

Dec Makeup Faves

This month I did a complete turn around with my makeup routine. I've adopted the 'Less is more' motto, and have been loving bareMinerals! As I've mentioned, my skin is very sensitive and have struggled to find the right foundation. Loveeee these products!

I've also made a switch from nude lipgloss (perhaps it's the holidays?) to some red and pink lip stains. This Ambition lipgloss is perfect for the holiday festivities. Who's hungry for some makeup?
Alright, I'm off to get ready for my first annual Gingerbread Hunger Games hosted at my house! Expect photos tomorrow :)
